SKOOL21 offers STEM learning opportunities to learners aged 6 to 8. Using a mechanical toolkit, learners solve problems. The kit selection is based on the sequence of the industrial revolutions. As humankind has discovered mechanics, learners are introduced to the building block at this stage. The pedagogy is a complete problem where learners are not provided with any ready-made solutions. Instead, they have to develop solutions using the kit’s resources. All the STEM Resource Book projects are aligned with the General Knowledge National Curriculum.
The course offers a unique opportunity for learners to become makers starting from an early age when they are given a problem to solve. Which learners first brainstorm in groups and then devise a plan using a drawing or sketch on which a consensus has been built. Then they are provided with the resources to execute their plan. Lastly, they evaluate their model and match it with the requirement provided by the facilitator initially and make necessary adjustments. Following this process develops learners’ innate 21st-century skills to problem solve and engineering design thinking to lead complex projects in the future.
