SKOOL21 offers STEM learning opportunities to learners aged 7 to 9. Using Early Simple Machine, learners solve problems using variations of gears, pulleys and axles. All the STEM Resource Book projects are aligned with the General Knowledge National Curriculum for grade 3. This enables learners to critically think in groups and discuss solutions using the resources provided in the makerspace. After the learners develop their solutions, they have to present their model to the class for feedback which incubates a growth midset from a young age.
STEM Resource Book used in the course offers STEM challenges aligned with the grade 3 General Knowledge National curriculum objectives. It develops learners’ communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity as they are challenged to design, build and evaluate projects which offer a hands-on learning experience. The course enables the learners to understand how the hardware structures developed for industrial automation work. Using this knowledge learners can design and build their own structures using the science of mechanics but backed by the principles of design thinking and problem-solving strategies, learning which is essential for any learner in 21st century.
